| I am interested in making works that, in different ways, acknowledge and play with their positions as artworks. Through painting, drawing, sculpture and photography, I employ quotation as a tactic through which (often figurative) elements can acknowledge and engage with the history of art. I seek to explore the transmutation of something beautiful into something monstrous (but still beautiful), and in taking something that already has an established cultural reading that I can wrestle with. Operating within the existing aesthetic of a found image or object, I aim to make something that is both in keeping with, and at odds with, the nature of its source.
